PATTON, GEORGE S.
(1885 - 1945) "Old Blood and Guts" was one of the finest tank commanders in history, rolling his forces through Tunisia, Sicily, France and Germany until halted at the Rhine. Good content T.L.S. "G. S. Patton, Jr." on colorful Hawaiian Division military letterhead, 1p. 4to., Schofield Barracks, Apr. 29, 1927 to Alfred W. Carter, General Manager of the enormous Parker Ranch in Hawaii from which Patton purchased some of his favorite horses. In part: "…The horses all arrived here in fine shape, except in a few cases of scratches…Every one who sees them is more than delighted. Colonel [Walter C.] Short in particular thinks they are a very fine lot…As it is quite futile to try and thank you enough for your many courtesies, I shall not attempt it beyond saying that we never enjoyed a visit more…". Very good.
