TIME & THE TIMEPIECE
Around the time when wristwatches were becoming an increasingly indispensable item, watch manufacturers started using their imaginations to develop timepieces that could be displayed elsewhere. On DESKS, on walls, or on bedside tables; in plexiglass, chromed, plastic or leather, their imagination had no limit. Their shapes and materials were often reflective of a different time when winding an eight-days timepiece was still a pleasure. These timepieces have traveled
through time, and they
represent a wide selection
by manufacturers such as
Jaeger, Mido, Imhof, Angelus, vacheron & constantin
and cartier. Each timepiece
is reminiscent of a
different ERA, and one
can still imagine these
great pieces standing
on a director's desk or
on the mantelpiece
above the fireplace.
