Parker "D" Grade hammer shotgun circa 1871-1877. America's finest shotgun of the period and here is an example of a higher grade. Hammer guns were graded a little different than hammer-less guns of later production. Parker used an "AA" GRADE as one off their top grades and went down the alphabet from there. This gun has nice bores, ornate engraving, double "X" wood stock and foregrip, nice crisp checkering and matching original hammers. The barrels have been shortened to 271/2 inches from (most likely) 32 inches and a rubber recoil butt plate has been installed many years ago. The barrels and receiver have been nicely re-blued and the lockup and fit and finish are very nice. A letter may be obtained from the PARKER COLLECTORS ASSOCIATION to find out the history of this beautiful double gun. An overall excellent collector piece for the restorer or a classic black powder piece for the sport shooter. A very nice and rare gun for either.
