PAIR OF FEDERAL ANDIRONS.
American, probably New York, late 18th century, brass. Urn-form with engraved US shield and swags, and resting on ball and claw feet. Wear from use. 18"h.

These andirons, along with lots 968 and 979, descended in the family of David Whittlesey (1750-1825), Washington, Connecticut, until acquired by the current owner.
