Featured in this lot is this P.M. Kelly western cowboy drop shank spurs circa 1950's. The spurs feature a wonderfully and professionally crafted stainless steel construction. The spurs shows rowells with a total of ten tines per rowells and shows double strap leather straps. Each spur is marked 'Kelly' underneath the spur strap swivel button. Pascal Kelly learned to make bits and spurs from a blacksmith in town as a way to make money for a trip to the 1904 World’s Fair from his small town in Texas. His skill at blacksmith work and bit and spur making led him to open his own shop with his brother. Eventually, he would have a short lived partnership with Clyde Parker, as well. Kelly had an outstanding ability to make or repair almost anything. He eventually found work with J.R. McChesney’s shop for a period of time. Eventually Kelly started his own business and produced an incredibly wide range of designs for both bits and spurs. The condition of this pair of spurs is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows good overall condition. The measurements of this pair of spurs is 8" x 4" x 4 3/4". The collective weight of this pair of spurs is 14oz.
