These three hand carved models were made at the Corbin Special Hardware factory by hardware artisans around 1900. These discs were special ordered by companies, institutions, and government agencies to embellish the doorknobs on their buildings. These three custom pieces were made for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, The City of Cleveland Public Utilities, and the New Jersey State Village for Epileptics. These models were carved from a hard plastic-like material and two of them retain the tabs used when casting with the lost wax process.
