Over-under turn barrel flintlock Horseman’s size pistol signed “Joseph Hauer in Bamburg”. The pistol measures approx. 18” overall with 11” barrels of approx. 50 caliber smoothbore. The pistol shows brass mounts and is nicely engraved on lock and mounts with typical 18th century Germanic hunting scene. The pistol is in its original flintlock configuration with proper hammer, frizzen and small parts including top jaw. The pistol shows a European-style museum polish on metal surfaces. The stock is pewter inlaid simulating the silver wire inlay of the 18th century. This inlay is about 70% intact and stock shows light refinishing. The ramrod is a correct style replacement. An old collection tag is attached which shows “P.L.” embossed on the lead disk and a brass disk numbered “54”. An impressive pistol circa 1750. Est.: $3,000-$6,000.
