Oval administrative seal of Alwar State, 55.20g, with inscriptions in three languages, dated 1863AD, VS1920 and AH 1280: 1. Devanagari in centre, bottom, in three lines: ???? ????? ??? ?? / ? ???? ???? / ???? (Mohar Ijlas Khas Raj Alwar Sammat 1920). 2. Farsi in centre, top, in three lines: ??????? ???? ??? ????? ??? ??? ???? (Sanah 1280 Hijree Mohar Ijlas Khas Raj Alwar). 3. English in exergue: MOHUR IJLAS KHAS RAJ ULWUR S.E. 1863. As the inscription suggests, this is the administrative seal of ‘Royal Collectorate’ of Alwar State. In 1863, the council of ministers headed by Thakur Lakhdhir Singh invested Maharao Raja Sheodan Singh with full royal powers, ending a period of regency brought about by intrigues of the Revolt of 1857. Perhaps, this department and its seal were created around this occasion.
