Outstanding Winchester Model 95 405 WCF Caliber Lever Action Takedown Rifle
This is an excellent example of a Winchester Model 95 lever action rifle, Winchester's first rifle equipped with a non-detachable box magazine. Derived from a John Browning patent, it would go on to be a personal favorite of President Roosevelt. This rifle was manufactured in 1928 and features a dovetail Lyman brass bead front sight and a semi-buckhorn sporting rear sight with a Lyman receiver sight mounted on the left side of the receiver. The frame has contoured sides, indicating later production, and a takedown switch on the front underside. The upper tang is marked "MODEL 95 / -WINCHESTER- / TRADE MARK REG. U.S. PAT. & FGN." and the two line address/patent dates on the left side of the receiver. The top of the barrel at the breech and the front upper left side of the receiver are marked with the Winchester oval proof and there is the number "35" marked on the lower right rear of the receiver at the trigger. Mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with an ebony forend insert and checkered metal buttplate.
BBL: 24 inch round

Condition: Excellent. The rifle retains 98% plus original finish with some wear on the lower rear left side of the magazine and right upper portion of the lever from cycling the action, some minor flaking on the lever and some high edge wear on the receiver and lever. The wood remains excellent with a few scattered minor pressure dents and scuffs. The markings remain crisp and clear. The action is excellent. An exceptionally nice Model 95, in the most desirable 405 WCF chambering.
