Outstanding Winchester Model 1895 Lever Action Carbine
This unused example of a Winchester Model 1895 Carbine was manufactured in 1920. The carbine has a blue finish on the barrel, frame, hammer, lever and buttplate. The black walnut stock, handguard and forearm have an oil finish. The forearm has military style grasping grooves. The barrel is fitted with a steel blade front sight and a military style, folding leaf, rear sight. A sling ring is mounted on the left side of the frame. The carbine style butt-plate has a sliding trap. The top of the frame is stamped with the Winchester, oval "W/P" proofmark above the two-line caliber designation ".30/ARMY". The upper tang is roll-stamped: "MODEL 1895/-WINCHESTER-/TRADE MARK REG.U.S. PAT. OFF & FGN." in three lines. The serial number is stamped on the lower tang. The left side of the frame is roll-stamped with the elongated, Winchester address and 1895-1907 patent dates. The original factory "ASSEMBLING SHOP TAG" is dated "9/9" and serial numbered to the rifle. The rifle has the consecutive serial number to Winchester Model 1895 Carbine "401,443" which is also offered for sale in this auction.

Condition: Excellent 99% plus overall. The carbine appears to be unfired and is in nearly new condition. Finish wear is limited to a very slight cycling scuff mark on the left side of the lever housing and some cocking marks on the sides of the hammer. The markings on the barrel and frame are perfect. The stock and forearm are near new with almost no handling wear. This is an outstanding original example of a Winchester Model 1895 Carbine.
