This pistol was produced by Colt in late 1942 or early 1943. The left side of the slide has the Colt military markings that consist of the two line, two block Colt Hartford address and patent marking with the Rampant Colt in the center of the markings. The right side of the slide has no markings. The left side of the frame has the boxed "W.B." inspection initials and "P" below the magazine release and the right side has the "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" over the serial number (808256) and "M1911A1 U.S.ARMY" ahead of the slide stop pin hole. The top of the slide has a single "P" proof in front of the rear sight and it has the matching serial number stamped above and below the firing pin hole. The pistol is fitted with a Colt wide spur checkered hammer, parkerized checkered thumb safety, serrated slide release, milled and checkered trigger and checkered arched main spring housing. The parkerized barrel is marked "COLT 45 AUTO" on the left side of the chamber, with a letter "G" on the underside of the barrel ahead of the lug, and "P" on the left side of the lug. The pistol is fitted with the brown checkered military grips, the left one is an early grip with the large reinforcing rings and a single mold number and reinforcing ribs, while the other grip is a later Keyes-Fibre replacement grip that has the small reinforcing ring with the five-pointed star inside with reinforcing ribs. It is complete with a unmarked full blue magazine and the GI style shipping box that has the serial number of the pistol marked in a red grease pencil on the outside of the box along with the nomenclature, and NSN on the edges of the box.

Excellent overall with 99% of the late WWII style arsenal finish on the major components and the small components all have the late blue/black parkerized finish. The grips are also in excellent condition with nice sharp diamonds and no chips or cracks. The shipping box is in fine condition. Appears unissued Colt.
