Produced in 1938, the 357 Magnum Single Action Army was introduced in 1935, with only 525 produced pre-war. Fixed sights, with the one line Hartford address on top of the barrel, "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .357" on the left side, and the three patent dates followed by the Rampant Colt logo on the frame. The face of the cylinder is correctly marked with a star which was found on revolvers manufactured from 1935 to 1941 within the serial number range of 355540 to 357824, with matching 2-digit partial serial number on the rear face. The lower rear sides of the frame have been stamped with an "O", (significance unknown). Matching serial numbers on the grip straps under the grips. Fitted with a pair of magnificent ivory grips with a steer head carving on the right panel and deep set Colt medallions.

Excellent. The revolver retains approximately 99% of the original blue finish with some minor wear on the muzzle end of the barrel, some minor flaking, and light drag line and edge wear on the cylinder and a couple minor scuffs and scratches on the grip straps. The frame retains virtually all of the bright vivid case colors. The earlier production factory grips have aged to a mellow aged patina and are excellent with minor age cracks on the bottoms. All markings remain sharp. The action is excellent.
