Outstanding Polychrome Historic Pearlware Pitcher “Arms of the United States” With 16-Star US Flags Ex: Richards
c. 1805, Highly Decorated Polychrome Historic Pearlware Pitcher, with Legend “Arms of the United States,” Choice Near Mint.
This is an extremely rare and historic 5” tall Pearlware Pitcher with black trim elements, that is outstanding in both its important design features and beautiful, highly colorful appearance. Each side has "ARMS OF THE UNITED STATES," listed as Arman “A.25” on page 67 of David Arman’s major reference book, “Anglo-American Ceramics Part I.” Arman also states that this beautiful and highly ornate, exciting design is probably by Enoch Wood and Sons, England. Under the spout within a surrounding wreath with a splay of Arrows at bottom is the legend reading, “FREE TRADE AND SAILORS RIGHTS” which is listed as “F.18” on page 98 of Arman’s reference.

This magnificent, decorative Pitcher appears to be the exact Reference Plate Illustration example for these two transfer designs as shown in Arman. All three transfers are Polychrome being multicolored and extremely bright, fresh and vivid. From the “Richards Collection” with that pedigree label upon its base. Exceedingly rare, missing in virtually every advanced collection and likely the Finest Known.
