Outstanding L.D. Nimschke engraved deluxe Frank Wesson Two-Trigger tip up action single shot rifle, .44 cal., 30-1/2” heavy octagon barrel measuring 7/8” across the flats, blue finish to barrel, silver plated engraved frame with gold flashing over the silver, checkered deluxe wood stock, #69. This rifle is in overall fine untouched condition showing approx. 95% original blue finish on the barrel, buckhorn rear sight, Beeche’s flip up gold plated front sight, the engraving on the frame of this Wesson rifle is extensive including three animal head scenes, fancy scrolls, fanciful floral wheels, etc.; all indicative of Nimschke’s hand (we did not remove the stock or the barrel from the frame as the fits are impeccable, however, initials or a signature may be hidden somewhere on this rifle given the quality of the engraving). The hammer shows considerable case color, the stock is finely grained and in overall fine condition with just some scattered mars and scratches from storage; the top of the steel butt plate has also been engraved and shows traces of the gold flashing remaining. An untouched and beautiful work of firearm art. Est.: $2,000-$4,000.
