Manufactured at the Nagoya Arsenal in the closing days of World War II after many features and niceties had been discarded in an attempt to increase production. This Series 8 rifle features an Inverted "V" front sight without guards and fixed rear peep sight. The mum remains sharp on the top of the receiver and the left side is marked with the Serials symbol, serial number and arsenal marking. The partial matching serial number "466" is marked on the bolt and the bayonet lug is un-numbered. Plain cylindrical bolt handle and roughly welded barrel bands. Mounted with a smooth full length hardwood pistol grip stock with wooden buttplate. The rifle is complete with an original rubberized canvas sling.
