This is a beautiful example of a documented General Officer's, U.S. Colt Model 1903 Semi-Automatic Pistol that was issued to General William Meroney. It is accompanied with a copy of ownership registration/bill of sale, dated Feb 1971, and a framed DA Form 2879, Certificate of Ownership, issuing the pistol to General Meroney, also dated Feb 1971. General Meroney was a member of the U.S. Army Medical Corp and was stationed at Walter Reed when this pistol was issued. The pistol has the two line marking on the left side of the slide with the 1903 patent date followed by "COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. CO./HARTFORD. CT. U.S.A." in two lines on the left side of the slide with the Rampant Colt behind the slide serrations. The right side of the slide is marked, "COLT AUTOMATIC/CALIBRE 32 RIMLESS SMOKELESS" in two lines below the ejection port. The left side of the trigger guard bow is stamped with a Colt "VP/Triangle" proofmark, while the right side has only a single number "64" inspector mark. The pistol has the late style semi-ramp front sight and rounded rear sight, with the all parkerized finish, blued barrel with polished chamber, and checkered walnut grips with German Silver Colt medallions. The pistol has one all blued magazine marked "Cal-32/Colt" on the floor plate and one spare magazine that is still sealed in the brown wrapping paper. The pistol is complete with a regulation U.S. Army issue U.S. General Officer's black leather holster for the Colt Model 1903 pistol. This style of holster, as noted on page 303 of the book "US Military Holsters" by Scott Meadows, was produced by the Atchison Leather Products Company and was in use by the military from 1956 until 1972. The holster is constructed of high polished brown leather with gold plated snaps and rivets. Also accompanying this holster is an original U.S. Army issue General Officer's issue black leather belt and brass buckle, a double pocket black leather magazine pouch, a spare magazine, as noted, cleaning rod and cleaning brush. The back side of the magazine pouch is marked "BAUER BROS MFG. CO./ST LOUIS MO.". This complete pistol, belt and holster rig is accompanied by the original shipping box and all the original packing material for each individual piece along with the white VCI pouch serial numbered to the pistol.
