Outstanding Factory Documented Army Intelligence Issued U.S. Property Colt .32 ACP Automatic Pistol with Shoulder Holster

Colt .32 ACP Automatic Pistol with factory letter that indicates it was one of 500 pistols shipped to the Commanding Officer, Washington Quartermaster Depot in Cameron, Virginia on February 20, 1945. "U.S. HANDGUNS OF WWII" states that the 504 .32 ACP Pistols in the February 20, 1945 order were intended for issue to Army Military Intelligence (page 197). This late production pistol has a Colt "Parco-Lubrite" finish on the slide and frame, blue barrel with polished chamber and checkered walnut grips inlaid with nickel-silver Colt medallions. The pistol has a full blue magazine. The pistol has the late production, square-top, rear sight and ramp front sight with serrated face. The right side of the frame is roll stamped "U.S. PROPERTY". The left side of the frame has the Ordnance escutcheon lightly stamped behind the slide lock safety and the serial number "572056" roll stamped above the trigger cut-out. The Colt "Triangle/VP" proofmark is stamped on the left side of the trigger guard bow. The right side of the slide is roll stamped "COLT AUTOMATIC/CALIBRE 32 RIMLESS SMOKELESS". The left side of the slide is roll stamped with the Colt Hartford address and 1897 and 1903 patent dates in two lines. The Rampant Colt is roll stamped on the left side of the slide behind the grip serrations. The base of the magazine is roll stamped "CAL.32/COLT". The pistol is accompanied by a reproduction kraft box that contains an instruction sheet, a parkerized cleaning rod and a russet leather shoulder holster in a cardboard box stenciled "HOLSTER, SHOULDER/CAL. 32&380 COLT/1095-141-9494". The consignor notes state that this pistol is pictured in "OSS WEAPONS II, SECOND EDITION" by Dr. John W, Brunner.

Excellent plus. The pistol retains 99% of the original Parco-Lubrite finish with some very minor storage wear on high points of the slide and frame. The grips are near new and have not been oiled. The magazine retains 98% of the dull blue finish. The instruction sheet and cleaning rod are excellent plus. The shoulder holster is new. The pistol carton and holster box are both excellent. This is an outstanding example of a late production U.S. Property Colt .32 Automatic Pistol issued to Army Intelligence.
