Outstanding Colt Military Model 1902 Semi-Automatic Pistol

This is a beautiful example of a late production Colt Model 1902 semi-automatic pistol manufactured in 1919. The Colt commercial models and military models are very similar in outward configuration, with the difference being the military models (like this one) have the more squared off lower rear grip frame, while the commercial model has the rounded lower frame area. This desirable example is also fitted with the checkered spur hammer and lanyard loop mounted on the lower left corner of the grip frame. The left side of the slide is marked in two separate blocks "PATENTED/APR.20,1897. SEPT.9, 1902" followed by "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO./HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.". The pistol has the slide serrations on the rear with the Rampant Colt behind the serrations. The right side of the slide is marked "AUTOMATIC COLT/CALIBRE 38 RIMLESS SMOKELESS". The serial number is located above the trigger guard bow on the left side of the frame with the Colt "VP/Triangle" proofmark stamped below that. The pistol features the high polish Colt commercial blue finish and checkered hard rubber grips. Each grip panel has; "COLT" inside a banner at the top and the circled Rampant Colt in the center. It has a blue unmarked magazine with the casehardened hammer.

Manufucture: Colt

Stock:
Guage: 38 Colt auto
Finish: blue
Grips: hard rubber

Excellent with 95% of the original blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear, intermixed with some minor browning patina, on the flat areas of the pistol overall. The grips are very fine with nice original checking on both sides with clear sharp Colt markings, showing only light wear. Mechanically excellent. An excellent example of a desirable early Colt Model 1902 Military semi-automatic pistol.
