This is an exceptional example of a blackpowder Colt Single Action Army revolver with Colt factory letter that states this revolver was shipped to the Colt London Agency on March 19, 1885. The letter describes the revolver as caliber .45 with a 7 1/2-inch barrel, blue finish and rubber stocks. The revolver has a high polish commercial blue finish on the barrel, cylinder, trigger guard and back strap. The hammer, frame and loading gate are color casehardened. The screws have a fiery niter blue finish. The revolver has black two-piece checkered hard rubber grips embossed with with an eagle and shield. The top of the barrel is roll-stamped "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. Co. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." in one line. London "Crown/GP" and "Crown/V" proof and inspection marks are stamped on the underside of the barrel and above each cylinder chamber. The left side of the frame is stamped with the Colt three date/three line patent marking. The inside of the loading gate is stamped with the assembly number "1409". The full serial number "112915" is stamped on the bottom of the frame, trigger guard and back strap. All of the visible serial numbers match. "G" is stamped below the serial number on the trigger guard and back strap.

Condition: Excellent. The revolver retains 90% of the bright original high polish blue finish overall. Wear on the barrel is limited to some scattered and very minor flaking on the top near the frame. The cylinder has light edge wear and on the inside of the front grip strap. The frame and hammer retain more than 95% of the color casehardened finish with fiery case colors. The case colors on the loading gate have silvered slightly. The screws are in excellent plus condition and retain most of the niter blue finish. The factory markings and British proof marks are crisp. The grips are excellent plus. The action is tight and functions perfectly. This is an excellent example of a Colt London Agency shipped blackpowder Single Action Army revolver.
