1843 Bunker Hill Battle Monument Commemorative Ribbon
June 17, 1843-Dated, Bunker Hill Battle Monument Completion, Commemorative Souvenier Printed Silk Ribbon, with text excerpt from Daniel Webster, Established & Sold by G. G. Smith Corner of Washn. & Franklin Sts., Boston., Choice Extremely Fine.
This original, beautifully rendered Black print on light Blue Silk Ribbon measures about 2 3/8" wide x 7" tall. It has two historic scenes. The first of American Patriots standing in the clouds and pointing at the battlefield with numerous headstones seen in the foreground. You can faintly see the Monument emerging through the ghosts of the Revolutionary War soldiers who appear faintly behind, their bayonet tips seen poking into the light. The 2nd scene depicts the Completed Monument. Appearing in tiny print beneath this image is this info: Established & Sold by G. G. Smith Corner of Washn. & Franklin Sts., Boston. At the top is a beautiful quote from Webster's address. Extremely rare, of a superb design. The very first we have seen and offered.
