It was one of the few comics to get its start on the magazine page and grow into a syndicated newspaper feature. The Little King was a very popular feature world wide, because of its mostly pantomime format and Soglow's artistry. William Randolph Hearst convinced Soglow to pen a feature for his syndicate, titled The Ambassador, until his contract with the New Yorker expired. When The Little King began on September 9, 1934, The Ambassador disappeared! The image area of this piece measures approximately 18" x 23" and, aside from a fold between the Sentinel Louie topper and The Ambassador, the art is in Excellent condition.
