Otto Messmer - Felix the Cat #1 Complete 12-page
Otto Messmer - Felix the Cat #1 Complete 12-page Story "Laffographs" Original Art (Dell, 1948). America's first superstar of animated cartoons was not the mouse, but rather the cat. To quote a popular song, "Felix keeps on walking, keeps on walking still. With his hands behind him, you will always find him." He was billed as "Pat Sullivan's Felix," but it's more likely that he was created by Sullivan employee Otto Messmer, who worked on the early silent cartoons, newspaper strips, and the Dell comics of the 1940s and '50s. The premiere issue of the Dell Felix the Cat comic book series featured a hilarious yarn lampooning the addicting hobby of autograph collecting. Felix could have taken up the equally addicting comic book and comic book art collecting habit instead -- and his own story would have been a good place to start! The image area of the art measures 12.75" x 18.5", and aside from some edge wear and closely trimmed page edges these beauties are in Excellent condition.
