Otto John Gaul signed the matting outside this photograph with his name "Otto John Gaul A.R.P.S." (Associate Of Royal Photography Society).
Otto John Gaul was a photographer from Buffalo, New York. When he was twelve he became interested in photography and during his college years, he did part-time portraiture. During World War I he served as an aerial and topographical photographer abroad. Gaul was most famous for his black and white photographs. Otto John Gaul photographs are seldom seen on the market and are highly sought. This photograph is of Native American woven rain shields and Olla pottery jars some in a carrying net. This photograph is professionally matted and framed. The photograph measures 9' x 7" in a frame that measures12 3/4" x 15 3/4". Their are chips to the frame but the photograph and matting show no signs of damage.
