<td width="100%">
Here is a wonderful pear or marquis shaped carnelian sterling ring. It is signed by the designer OB sterling. Excellent extremely attractive ring size 5 1/2 The OB stamp belongs to Ostby & Barton. They were a jewelry manufacturer out of Providence, Rhode Island. The firm started in the late 1800s, I think 1879- and seems to have completely disappeared in the first half of the 1900s. Mr. Ostby actually died on the Titanic. They made all sorts of jewelry- rings, pendants, brooches, bracelets, among other things. They used sterling, rose, white and yellow gold as well as some gold plate, and materials ranging from glass to diamonds and semiprecious stones I have seen a few hat pins but I have never come across a necklace. Their jewelry is highly collectible because of the Titanic connection, and it can be obtained rather cheaply (or expensively, depending on the materials that make up the piece).
