TLS, one page, 5.5 x 8, personal letterhead, May 10, 1937. Letter to Clayton Dickerson. In part: “I would like for you to sell the balance of the corn, 24 bushels, 18 pounds, and purchase for me my share of the seed beans, which should be 7-1/2 bushels for the 20 acres. I have consulted the local farm bureau, and was told that 1-1/2 bushels to the acre are ample for seeding where the beans are to be harvested; two bushels, when the beans are to be cut for hay. The Bureau strongly advocated the planting of the beans with a wheat drill, which is said to be a much better way than broadcasting. I notice that soy beans are selling at $1.76 to $1.80 per bushel on the Chicago market, which is usually a little higher than your local market. I have decided not to bother with the soil conservation program. To adjust crops so as to meet the Government requirements would necessitate amendments to our contract. Proposed amendments have led to so much misunderstanding and confusion in the past that I think it best not to go into them.” Triple matted and framed with a portrait of Wright and a name plaque to an overall size of 26.25 x 20.25. In fine condition. Interesting content that reveals Wright’s precise calculations extended beyond his aviation career.
