Commemorative cover with a stamped cachet honoring the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Wright Brothers first flight at Kitty Hawk, and bearing a December 17, 1928, Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, postmark, signed in the upper left corner “Orville Wright.” Cover is also addressed in type to “Mr. J. T. Schweier, C/O Mr. A. C. White, Gen. Mgr., American Ry. Express Co.,” in Chicago. Reverse bears a second anniversary cachet and a December 2, 1928, Chicago, postmark. Uniform toning and light postmarks along bottom edge, otherwise fine condition.

The original 1903 flight of the Wright Brothers at Kitty Hawk literally changed the way mankind looked at the world. Twenty-five years later, the celebration continued, with even men from other avenues of transportation, such as the American Railway Express Company (which had officially changed its name to the Railway Express Agency in 1927), recognizing the greatness of air travel. A unique marriage linking air travel and the railways signed by a father of modern aviation.
