Ornate silver and gold-mounted South American short-sword, approx. 29-3/8” overall with 23-7/8” blade. Blade measures approx. 1” at widest part, and is nicely etched and marked “Armeria de Paris, Carlos Rasetti and Ca.Buenos Aries”. The blade is in good condition showing just slight edge wear, some minor pitting, and shows scissor steel trademark. The grip, guard, and scabbard, are mounted in ornate and heavy silver over a leather body. The hangar portion shows a gold inlay in a design that may be a river or the owner’s property. The drag shows large gold initials “A.R”. The leather portion of the scabbard is good to very good. Argentine swords of thisera are generally .800 to .900 fine silver. This is one of the most ornate swords of this style we have seen and probably made for an important rancher or land-owner. Est: $750 - $1,500
