Original watercolor on paper entitled “St. Anne Des Monts Gaspe” by Ogden Minton Pleissner, signed lower left. Approx. 16” by nearly 23”. St. Anne is a small town on the Gaspe peninsula in the Canadian province ofQuebec. The area is known for its salmon fishing. Odgen Pleissner was born April 29th, 1909, died April 24th 1983. He was highly credited attending American Art Students League, Pratt Institute, and taught at theNational Academy. The Metropolitan Museum of Art purchased the painting of Brooklyn Heights from him in 1932 giving him his first important recognition. In 1947 he moved to Paulet, Vermont, and later Manchester,Vermont. He received 88 national awards for his work and was a member of 21 national associations. His paintings are shown in the collections of 72 museums and institutions in the USA and Canada. He enjoyed fishing andpainting sporting scenes, but the majority of his work consisted of landscapes.
