Original oil painting on canvas signed lower right Edward Hill circa late 19th to early 20th-century. This artist was inspired by Albert Bierstadt and was a prominent member of The Rocky Mountain School along with Thomas Moran, William Keith, and a few others. The painting portrays a cabin in the high Mountains with a waterfall and stream ending in a pond and showing riders with pack horses in the foreground. The painting measures 24” x 36” and is in a vintage frame. The canvas shows some small areas of minor damage and needs stretching and slight conservation that our restorer estimated at about $1000 or less to put it in top condition. Edward Hill was born in 1843 and died 1923. His works hang in many major Collections and museums and many collectors feel he was only one step down from his contemporaries Thomas Moran and William Keith. Keith and Lori Candee Collection. Est.: $1,500-$3,000.
