Original oil painting on canvas featuring a young buck jumping over fallen tree in snow (early hunting season) by well noted pre-war artist Lynn Bogue Hunt. Approx. 20”h by 27”w (artwork), showing an old frame. The painting is in very good condition needing some light cleaning only, the frame shows storage marks. Lynn Bogue Hunt was an important artist who was considered one of the best sporting artists of the 20th century. Havingworked for Remington, Winchester, and sporting magazines, Hunt was considered among the best in his time. Mr. Hunt did over 100 illustrations for Sports Afield from 1897 to 1951. His sporting art is some of the mostrecognized ever including duck stamps, over 250 separate cover paintings for 40 different magazines from Boy’s Life to the Saturday Evening Post. Also, he worked for ammunition and gun companies producing advertisements.His popular artwork was earning him the incredible sum of over $50,000 per year during the depression.
