Original oil painting on board entitled “Fannin Sheep” by John Clymer (1907-1989). Approx. 16”h by 20”w, in excellent condition. In gold gilted frame showing a couple of storage marks. The painting is beautifullyaccomplished and shows two hunters climbing the mountain below the sheep far off in the distance. John Clymer was a student at the Pyle School in Wilmington, Delaware, and was influence by N. C. Wyeth. He worked for theSaturday Evening Post and other major magazines for which he did approx. 90 covers. He was affiliated with the National Academy of Western Art, Salmagundi Club, Society of Animal Artists and the Cowboy Artists ofAmerica. He has earned Gold in oil painting awards in 1970, 1972, 1975, and Silver in 1969, 1976, 1981; Gold awards in drawing in 1974, 1976, 1977; and Best in Show in 1975 and in 1979 when he also received a SpecialAward of Merit. Clymer was elected an Associate of the Royal Canadian Academy of Art and later studied with Harvey Dunn in New York City. From the Robert Petersen collection. Est: $17,500 - $35,000
