Original oil painting entitled Lion Roaring by Wilhelm Kuhnert, approx. 16”h by 28”w. Signed lower left, and on the back of painting. Also signed Wilhelm Kuhnert, Berlin, and “Brullender Lowe”. The rear ofthe frame shows frame from Tryon Gallery, London, and other small unidentifiable stamps and tags. The painting is in fine condition with no problems, just needing cleaning. The old frame shows some small damage, could useslight repairs. Wilhelm Kuhnert is considered one of the best painters of Africa and was highly regarded during his lifetime, particularly in Germany. His works are displayed in the major art collections of the world, and in many museums. His lion subjects are particularly sought after by collectors. From the Robert Petersen collection.
