Original oil on canvas showing a Mexican wedding in front of Santa Barbara Mission, signed lower right by noted western artist Nicholas Firfires. This artwork was used by the City of Santa Barbara during their Fiesta Days Celebration, and was purchased from Firfires directly by our consigner, who knew him through the prestigious Rancheros Visitadores riding group. "Nick" Firfires was born in Santa Barbara, California andgrew up working on a ranch where he showed skill in drawing horses and other subjects. He attended The Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles; and was an illustrator during WWII and opened a studio shortly after the secondworld war, where he worked for magazines illustrating comic strips of Buck Jones, Gene Autry and other western subjects. In 1960 he turned to fine art painting and produced many successful one man shows. His subjectsparticularly showed the Spanish influence on California culture. His style is a fine mix of realist and impressionist. He was a founding member of the Cowboy Artists of America, won many medals at exhibitions and
