artist Porter Williams dated 1999. York was a slave that belonged to Clark of the Louis and Clark Expedition and a full member of the group as well as the only black member. Once saved Clarks life during a flood on the Missouri and later freed by Clark, bronze depicts York during the expedition wearing leggings, high top moccasins, loin cloth and breast plate and holding period correct flintlock musket, his back shows marks from his early days in slavery, stands 22" tall.
