Original box for Colt 1862 Police with 6 ½” barrel showing compartment for Thuer cylinder and lined in original cartridge era red baize or coarse felt. The box shows just normal aging and darkening to the material with some impressionsand minor fading. The condition of the case is at least very good plus. The exterior of the case is standard Colt showing most of its original finish and some minor scratches with normal aging. This exact case was long associated with an originaland engraved 1862 Police Thuer conversion with extra percussion cylinder that was in the Johnny Bassett and Joseph Murphy collections. One of the rarest Colt cases with estimates of less than a dozen original 1862 Thuer conversions with 6 ½”barrels known to collectors worldwide. Est.: $2,000-$4,000
