Original and deluxe engraved 1860 rifle by Samuel Hoggson, .44 caliber rimfire, blue with gold gilted frame and mounts, and extra high-quality original burl wood stock, serial #6055. The barrel shows 40-60% evenlythinning and toning blue finish with crisp edges and super-sharp barrel address. There is some areas of light cleaning long ago and some just beginning light age and minor pinprick pitting just starting. Original rear sight and sling swivels are retained. The frame is extremely crisp and uncleaned with beautiful patina and generous traces of original gold gilt where protected. The buttstock and buttplate are matching. Theinside top of the frame is stamped “G” which denotes gold finish. The bottom of the tang by serial number shows an “F” stamp, probably for fine stock. The stock shows an ultra-deluxe burl wood grain and remains innear fine condition with just some even loss of varnish, some minor scratches and mars, but fits the metal impeccably and is one of the highest-quality original Henry stocks we have seen.
