Featured in this lot is this Original Signed Charles Beer Double-sided Framed Oil on Canvas, circa 1920-1934. Charles Beer was born in Hungary in 1892 and became a Swiss citizen in 1950. During the interwar period, also known as the interbellum, Beer had exhibitions in Budapest, Geneva, Paris, and, Lugano. After the Second World War, Beer traveled extensively to paint in France, Belgium, Great Britain, the Netherlands, and Germany. This double-sided oil on canvas was included in an exhibition at the Ernest Raboff Gallery, exhibition pamphlet included. This double-sided oil on canvas features a nude woman on the front and a man on the obverse. The front image appears to be in a decorated sitting room, the model in the foreground while another woman is in the background about to enter the room with a tray of food and drink. The obverse man appears to be in the outdoors, trees and leaves frame the man. Both paintings are done in an impressionistic style. The obverse has an engraved title plaque that reads, "Charles Beer, b. 1892, Hungary, Nude Lady, obverse Man, oil ref: Davenport, Benezit". The front is signed "Beer" at the bottom right corner. The double-sided oil on canvas is in nice preserved condition, no damage observed. Front visible art measures 16.5"W x 21.25"L, obverse is 13.5"W x 18"L; frame is 21.5"W x 26"L x 2"D, weight is 3lb, 14oz.
