Swatch of cloth from the 1903 Wright Flyer, along with an aviation cover signed by Orville Wright. Stamp-sized square of tan fabric was part of the plane that ushered in the aviation age. Fabric is tucked into a transparent envelope mounted to a photo of the plane's landmark first flight at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. Flown fabric is accompanied by an envelope signed ''Orville Wright'' in black ink, which bears four different stamps honoring progress in aviation, including a Lindbergh stamp. Cancelled four times from Kitty Hawk and dated 17 December 1936, Air Mail envelope is addressed in type to a Dr. Joseph C. Horan in Manila, Philippine Islands. Envelope measures approximately 6'' x 3''. Light toning, else near fine. Mounted and framed over the photo to an overall size of approximately 16'' x 14''. Presentation is near fine.
