Original Panama-Pacific Double Set Frame. Perhaps the second most ornate packaging for a set of United States commemorative coins, after the 32-slot cherrywood caddy crafted for the 1995-1996 Olympic issues. The copper frames, which supplemented existing leatherette-and-velvet holders, were created by Shreve & Co., a noted San Francisco jeweler that operates under that name to this day. While the copper frames for the five-coin and ten-coin sets are identical, the interiors are different, and the former is far more common than the latter.
The frame, glass, and interior labels are in Excellent condition. At the top, the left screw protrudes slightly, and the interior velvet is frayed in a spot at the upper right, revealing the surface beneath. Minor crushing of the velvet is visible in the quarter eagle slots as well. On the back, the leatherette is worn at the edges, most notably at the upper corners, though this is minor in context, and the prop and ring are intact. This is a great opportunity to acquire an important numismatic artifact.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
