Original Oil Painting "Can You See Me Now". Painting measures approx. 16"L x 12"H. This oil painting features a happy Jack Rabbit hiding in a thicket of Prickly Pear Cactus. The fruit of the Prickly Pear Cactus are very red & juicy when ripe. They are good to eat, however tangy and you have to watch out for the stickers. The Jack Rabbits in the Chiracahuan Desert are very large animals with huge ears. Getting there name from the Jack Ass which has big loping ears. Jack Rabbits of the desert thrive as they like the hot sun and can tolerate the heat on very little water intake. Judy and her brother would chase the Jacks in the desert; although there were no chance of them catching them. They did have sling shots and Judy was better than Johnny with the primitive weapon. They didnt eat the Jacks, however, they would eat an occassional Cotton Tail over smoking mesquite wood. There are times of the year that you can eat rabbits of the desert and certain times you cannot, because of the parasites.

Judy grew up in the "Bootheel" of New Mexico amid the Chicahuahuan desert hot days, cool nights and beautiful sunsets. Her inspiration for her Happy Bird Series, comes from her adventures in the desert as a youth tracking, hiking, hunting and playing with her brother among the mesquite, sand & cactus. Together these two children from early age would amuse theirselves, chasing the animals of the desert and making friends with many of them. Early in the morning, Judy and brother John would start out on their trek in the desert sand with a bottle of water and their enthusiasm.

Judy is a self taught artist and has won numerous awards. She has shown and sold nationwide. She shows compassion, wisdon & humor in her painting. Above all she is has a charm and skill of mixing her colors with her imagination.
