Original Oil On Canvas by MT Artist Taylor Lynde
For your consideration is this original oil on canvas done by Montana artist Taylor Lynde (1970-Present) circa early 2000s. Taylor Lynde is a fourth generation resident of Montana. Two men—artist Scott Switzer and Michael Kosorok, his high school art teacher—have influenced the course of his career. Along with teaching Lynde the fundamentals of oil painting, Kosorok assisted him in obtaining a partial scholarship to the Pratt Institute in New York, where he studied drawing and art history for a year. Lynde joined the Navy after a year in New York and participated in Desert Shield. In 1995, he went back to Montana. Switzer, who supported him in return for Lynde making frames for him, gave him newfound inspiration. Lynde received two years of mentoring from Switzer, who also helped him find his first gallery. The sincere beauty of Lynde's subjects is captured in his impressionistic style. His cityscapes and landscapes depict the present-day Montana and its rich history. The artist prefers to tell a place's history from the perspective of the present rather than creating nostalgic paintings of the American West. The painting shows a young girl sitting on a chair in a colorful dress against a blue background. The painting shows colors of blue, orange, yellow, green, purple, pink, grey, and black. The painting is signed in the bottom left corner reading, "Taylor SDG" in white paint. The painting is set in a nice, wood frame with slight carved designs throughout. The piece shows good condition overall with little to no wear and no signs of obvious damage present. The painting measures 17 5/8" L x 13 5/8" W x 13/16" D.
