For your consideration is an original J.W. Audubon drawing titled "Yellow-Bellied Marmot" printed and colored by J.T. Bowen, Philad. This is an expertly framed original work of art from the mid 19th century, that comes with a certificate of authenticity from the Buffalo Bill Historical Center; Cody, Wyoming. The certificate indicates that this lithograph, which is hand printed and hand water-colored, is from Audubon's firsts octavo edition of The Quadrupeds of North America, and is over 140 years old. John Woodhouse Audubon (1812-1862) was an American artist and naturalist, and the second son of the well known ornithologist and painter, John James Audubon. The art shows excellent attention to detail and wonderful coloration. The lithograph is marked "No. 27" and "Plate CXXXIV" across the top. It is marked across the bottom reading "Yellow-Bellied Marmot - Drawn from Nature by J.W. Audubon. - On stone by W.E. Hitchcock - Lith. Printed & Col.d by J.T. Bowen Philad.a." This is an original lithograph, published between the years 1849 and 1854 by master printers. The artwork is set in a beautiful wooden frame by the Frame Hut Gallery in Billings, Montana. The visible art measures 9"x6" and the frame measures 17" x 14.5"
