This is an original prewar sporting rifle manufactured by the J.P. SAUER & SON factory that has been professionally restocked in a beautiful extra fancy claro walnut stock. It has a one-third, half octagon, half-round barrel with an integral, milled, solid steel barrel rib. The left side is engraved "30. U.S. G. 1906", (for 30-06). The rib is marked "J.P. SAUER & SON, SUHL, PRUSSIA" and it has a bead front sight on the integral sight ramp with a two leaf rear sight; one folding and one standing. It is still complete with the original double set triggers and Mauser type trigger guard and quick detachable floor plate. The bolt handle has been lowered and the bolt knob hand checkered in two panels. The receiver is fitted with a set of custom made scope bases that are milled for tally type scope rings (not included). The bolt safety has been converted to a M70 side swing type safety. It is stocked in a beautiful extra fancy, claro walnut stock that has tiger striping the full length of the stock. The stock has a multi-point, 22-24 line per inch checkering pattern with a sculptured rear edge with 8 separate smaller checkered panels on the pistol grip area and sides of the forend. The stock is fitted with a steel grip cap, and a solid Pachmayr red recoil pad.

Very fine as professionally rebuilt. The rifle retains 98% of a professionally restored, rust blue finish with edge and high spot wear overall. With some muzzle wear and minor scratches on the floor plate. The stock is near excellent with a few minor handling marks with a small crack/chipped are at the rear of the upper tang. The wood is still intact and can be easily repaired. The checkering is crisp. Mechanically excellent. A sharp looking, original prewar rifle with a new fancy walnut stock.
