<B>Howard Clinton Tibbitts Original Sepia Silver Print with Blindstamp</B></I> "H. C. Tibbitts / San Francisco" in the lower left corner, in the original frame, circa 1890s. Sight size is 16" x 12", framed to 19" x 15" overall. This dramatic photo with excellent tonal range and contrast shows a rocky portion of likely the northern California shoreline. Tibbitts (1863-1937) worked 40 years for the Southern Pacific Railroad, ostensibly based in San Francisco but actually spending much of his time traveling the various rail lines and taking spectacular photos that would appear in the company's popular magazine <I>Sunset.</B></I> His Western landscapes can be found in many major museums.
