This is a scarce authentic early 1900 Hopkins and Allen Arms Company Wild West Revolvers Advertising poster. Original Hopkins & Allen Arms Co. Norwich, Conn. U.S.A. advertising posters are very rare and highly collectible with most being in the “Man and Woman in a Canoe” and “Prairie Girl” chromolithograph pattern with very few being in this rare Wild West Revolver style. The piece has been examined closely and is found to be an authentic original early 1900 piece. A similar piece which is in a smaller form and on tin was sold in Rock Island Auction Companies 2010 sale and value at $2,250 with this example pre-dating that piece. The poster is in very well-preserved good condition with some small imperfections being seen, only adding to the pieces original age and authenticity. The poster reads, “Hopkins & Allen Wild West Revolver” and shows an early 1900 woman who is believed to be Annie Oakley wearing a beaded Wild West Show buckskin jacket and skirt and is holding a Hopkins & Allen Revolver with a larger example being shown at the bottom of the piece in beautiful art form. The piece is framed in a period correct early 1900, late 1800’s carved wood frame, which truly sets the piece off. Provenance: From the prominent Ex-art collection of Edward Bazinet, the founder of Department 56, the piece was proudly displayed at his 5-Bar-6 Ranch in Paradise Valley Pray, Montana where a portion of the movie, A River Runs Through It was filmed. The measurements of this framed poster are 26 1/2" x 38 1/4" and the measurements of the visible art are 25 1/2" x 17 1/2". The Ed Bazinet collection also included various Montana Frank Posters and other rare arms posters, which lends to the scarcity and authenticity of this piece.
