Original Henry Deringer, “Peanut” size percussion pistol, approx. .38 caliber, less than 1-1/4” barrel, marked “N. Curry & Br. San San Fran Co, Cala. Agents” Faceted muzzle, engraved German silver mounts with patchbox in butt. The Deringer measures only approx. 4-1/4” overall. The barrel shows 50-60% original brown with traces of striping. The lock, breech, and tang show grey case hardened color with just some slight erosion beginning, pinprick pitting. The breech is double silver banded, shows “P” proof, 7 false grooves cut into the muzzle to simulate rifling, but not cut and smoothbore. The mounts show typical pineapple finial and Deringer styling. The lock and breech are stamped Deringer, Philadela. The stock is in good to very good condition showing some wear and carry at the edges, just some slight carry and minor use. The end of the triggerguard is stamped “2” which is an assembly number. The pistol is good overall and original. Hard to find these very small peanut size Deringers, especially with gold-rush era agent stamps. Est: $3,000 - $6,000
