This is an original G.C. (Gerry) Wentworth bronze sculpture titled "Coyote". Gerry Wentworth was a Great Falls, Montana artist who grew up in the era just after Charles Russell's life. He was largely self taught and spent the majority of his life working in painting, sculpture and wood carving. Wentworth's works have been widely exhibited in such places as the C.M. Russell Show, the Phippen Art Show and the Frank Tenney Johnson Show. In 1981, he won Best of Show at the Northwest Americana Art Show. This sculpture shows a howling coyote standing near a buffalo skull. The piece shows wonderful detail. The sculpture sits on a solid walnut hardwood base with a brass placard that reads "Coyote G.C. Wentworth". The bronze has been signed by the artist. It is dated "1974" and is numbered 10/10. The sculpture is in good condition. It measures 6" x 11.5" and is 6.25" tall. Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and a printed biography of the artist. The original gallery retail price for this bronze was $2,200.
