This is an original G.C. (Gerry) Wentworth bronze sculpture titled "Trapped and Tormented". Gerry Wentworth was a Great Falls, Montana artist who grew up in the era just after Charles Russell's life. He was largely self taught and spent the majority of his life working in painting, sculpture and wood carving. Wentworth's works have been widely exhibited in such places as the C.M. Russell Show, the Phippen Art Show and the Frank Tenney Johnson Show. In 1981, he won Best of Show at the Northwest Americana Art Show. This sculpture shows a grizzly bear caught in a trap with a mountain lion attacking from a nearby tree. The piece shows incredibly fine detail and artistic ability. The bronze sits on a solid walnut hardwood base with a brass placard that reads "Trapped and Tormented / G.C. Wentworth". The sculpture is in very good condition. It measures 9" x 17" and is 15.5" tall. The bronze is signed by the artist and is numbered AC/10 (Artist's Copy). The sculpture comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and a printed biography of the artist. The original gallery retail price for this bronze was $3,500.
