Imprimé sur papier épais qui a pour ses dimensions de 9,5 cm par 13,5 cm, le document a été plié et a quelques défauts dus à l'âge et l'humidité. Cependant, il est néanmoins important puisqu'il démontre que le mouvement patriote n'était pas limité à la région de Montréal. Pour des détails sur le contexte, les individus impliqués, les discussions qui ont eu lieu à cette assemblée et leurs répercussions, consultez l'étude publiée en décembre 2018 - janvier 2019 dans la revue Numibec. Sous des apparences anodines, le document nous met au cœur d'une période cruciale de l'histoire du Bas-Canada. Invitation card to a meeting of the Patriotes held at the residence of Pierre Chasseur in August 1837, a few months before the outbreak of the rebellion. Printed on thick paper with dimensions of 9. 5 by 13. 5 cm, the document has been folded and has a few imperfections due to age and humidity. However, it is nevertheless an important document as it demonstrates that the Patriote mouvement was not limited to the Montreal region. For details as to the context, the individuals involved, the discussions that took place at this meeting, and their consequences, consult the article published in the December 2018 - January 2019 issue of Numibec. While appearing rather simple, this document places us at a crucial period in the history of Lower Canada. Without question this item is very rare, and quite possibly unique.

A buyer’s premium of twenty (20) % will be added to the hammer price of each lot and is payable by the buyer as part of the purchase price. The G.S.T. of 5 % for Canadian residents and the Q.S.T. of 9.975 % for Quebec residents ( or the H.S.T. for residents of the participating provinces) are also applicable to all successful bids as part of the purchase price.
Lots are sold to the highest bidder. In case of dispute, the decision of the auctioneer will be final. Lots should be picked up immediately after the sale. Purchasers must pay for their lots on delivery. An interest charge of two (2) % per month will be charged to buyers on all overdue accounts. Payment by cash, cheque, money-order (CAN or US currency) and credit cards Visa and MasterCard are accepted.
Payment using Paypal are possible with a 2% upcharge.
All bids are in Canadian funds. Bids in US funds will be converted at the prevailing exchange rate.
Forwarding charges, insurance and registration will be charged to the buyer. Shipment is executed at the buyer’s risk and responsibility.
Should a purchaser wish to submit an item for expertization, the auctioneer must be notified and the lot paid at the time of sale. If the lot proves to be not as described, the purchaser’s money shall be repaid in full.
Material described as having defects are not returnable on account of condition. No lots may be returned by persons who have had the opportunity to examine the material before the sale. Any returns for whatever reason must be made within thirty (30) days of receipt of lot(s). Champagne Auctions are obligated to pay all consignment lots within this amount of time.
The auctioneer reserves the right to group two (2) or more lots and also to withdraw any lot or lots from sale.
The placing of a bid shall constitute acceptance of the foregoing conditions of sale. Bids will be executed by the auctioneer. Bidding increments are at the discretion of the auctioneer.
Mail, fax, phone or online bids are entered on a first bid received basis. In the event of a tie bid, the first bid received has priority. E-mail bids are accepted only from regular customers or if a credit card number is supplied.
