Original Colt Whitneyville-Hartford Dragoon (aka “Transition Walker”) percussion revolver, .44 cal., 7-1/2” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, wood grips, #1151. Extremely rare as only about 240 of this model were produced in the serial number range of 1100 thru 1340 making the Whitneyville-Hartford rarer than a Walker Colt. This very early example is in overall worn but complete condition showing an even grey patina, scattered erosions and pitted areas consistent with all parts, dark bore, good action, markings include #1151 on the frame, trigger guard and back strap, #51 on the arbor, no visible serial number on the cylinder but there remains the one rear cylinder pin, no visible serial number on the loading lever and one indistinguishable digit on the barrel wedge. The grips are worn, but good overall with scattered nicks, mars and scratches overall and with approx. 60% varnish remaining. One of the few opportunities to obtain a “Transition Walker” in any condition with this one being one of the nicer ones to become available on the collector market. This gun was present at the Texas Gun Collectors Association Parade of Walkers at the Spring 2003 show in Houston, Texas. From the Richard Wolfe estate. Est.: $15,000-$30,000.
